Description

This is the newest generation diff brace offered by GEN1V.  It offers significant protection for your OEM CTS-V diff, in an easy to install bolt on design.  Diff failure usually occurs due to case failure around the pinion flange. This kit uses 1/4 inch plate to box the beefy side cover section of the differential to the front pinion using existing factory mounting bosses. This creates a second mounting point between the cradle and the diff – distributing the load and reducing the chances of failure.  This kit bolts directly onto your car with no modifications required (no cutting, no welding, no dropping the cradle).

Keep in mind that a diff brace does not have a significant effect on wheel hop by itself.  For wheel hop reduction, look at my Trailing Arm Brace (TAB) which is specifically designed for that purpose.

Please visit my Youtube Channel for additional videos and information about my products and the factory CTS-V diff.

Feel free to message me on Facebook or email me at gen1v@hotmail.com if you have any questions!

Note: installation of this product is intended for off-road purposes only.  It requires slight bending of the brake line (can be done by hand), and careful observation that the brake line does not come into contact with any part of the car that could potentially damage the brake line and cause loss of the braking system.   Watch my installation video for more details.  Gen1v carries no liability for damage to the braking system either during install, or over time if the braking system should fail.

Shipping & Delivery: Important, please read!!

*I try to keep an inventory of braces in stock and ready to ship, however at times I will fall behind and may need some extra time to complete your order.  I will contact you if your order will be delayed.

Clearances:
* Most cars need zero modification of the exhaust other than loosening the clamps, making some minor adjustments and then re-tightening. This isn’t a guarantee because there are so many different exhaust systems, and custom exhausts etc and they’re all a little different. You need to be prepared to dimple your exhaust if it’s needed.

Disclaimer:
* Install at your own risk.  The 1st generation CTS-V differential is prone to failure. While GEN1V products are intended to reduce the probability of failure, there is no guarantee that won’t happen. GEN1V will not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages, including but not limited to, damage, injury, loss of life, loss of property or equipment, loss of profits or revenue, or claims from any individual or entity arising from the sale, installation, or use of any GEN1V product.

The liability of GEN1V is limited to the replacement of defective products or parts found under examination by manufacturer to be defective in material or workmanship at our discretion.

So far, so good. I’ve only just got it installed but it fit perfectly with all parts lining up exactly as was described in the instructional video which is a huge life saver. I watched it probably 20+ times before even attempting the install as I wanted to know it backwards and forwards. It looks easy enough with the cradle removed but when you actually go to do the job it is TIGHT. There’s barely any space to work with under there even with the exhaust system removed. I could go on listing all the little stuff that worked for me but honestly it’s going to be up to every person and their tool set they have access to. Long story short, follow the video on here and you’ll be fine.

The craftsmanship is fantastic. Welds looks solid, paint is done well, and everything feels really nice. The only thing that could have been a bit better was that the bolt that goes through the bracket bushing was not threading into the other side very well and would have been a huge pain if I didn’t follow it through the other side first outside the vehicle. Fortunately though, I made sure all bolts and nuts fit and worked smoothly before ever putting the car on stands. Took me about 4 – 5 hours all together. Getting the U-bolts to line up was the hardest part for me.

The only downside, and I know this is probably a side business with hand made items, is the price. It’s expensive for some metal welded together, but honestly, it’s worth it for the mental assuredness and certainly better than buying a new differential or substitute axle. To be honest, I’m glad this option even exists with as niche a market as this is.

I’m looking forward to getting out to the track without having to worry (too much) about the diff exploding since I bought this along with the wheel hop half tabs.
