Got wheel hop on your 1st Gen CTS-V? Just like the full Trailing Arm Brace (TAB), the half TAB wheel hop kit will help reduce wheel hop, give smoother launches, and reduce wear and tear on your rear diff.  Half TABs are smaller & have more ground clearance than the full TAB, while providing a majority of the improvement at a fraction of the price.

Fits 2004-2007 CTS-V with OEM V1 cradle.  Will work with the OEM, 8.8, or 9″ differential.

Installation time: Approx 30-60 minutes.  (see installation guide by clicking the link further down the page)

Installation on’04 V’s require drilling 4 holes on each frame rail and is a very simple process.  ’05-07 requires no drilling and is 100% bolt on.

**Note** Some (very few) early 2005 cars do not have the factory holes and require that you buy the 2004 kit so that you get the right bolts.  In this situation you will have to drill your own holes just like in a 2004.  If your car is a 2005, check your frame rail for the appropriate holes prior to ordering.

Reducing cradle movement is a key ingredient to eliminating wheel hop on your CTS-V.  Whether you have the factory diff, or an 8.8″, or even a 9″… if you are running the OEM V1 cradle then this product will reduce cradle movement and significantly reduce wheel hop.

OEM cradle bushings are great for daily driver duty but during hard launches, or in the rain, burnout box etc, they are far too soft to prevent the cradle from moving around and contributing to wheel hop.  Even aftermarket cradle bushings allow a fairly substantial amount of cradle movement.  This product ties both of the forward trailing arm mounts together, reducing the potential of the two arms to move independently.  It also links into the frame rails, effectively giving the cradle six mounting points rather than just four.  This extra bracing reinforces the cradle and virtually eliminates movement during hard launches.

While noise hasn’t been a complaint, the extra bracing of this system could transmit more noise and vibration into the cabin.

Slotted Spacers
Each kit includes four slotted spacers (two golden colored, and two silver colored). These spacers allow you to adjust the preload (tension) on the cradle.

Golden spacer = No preload. This is the desired configuration!
Silver spacer = 0.04” preload (medium preload)
No spacer = 0.09” preload (max preload)

The desired configuration is to use the golden colored spacer for every-day street driving. In this configuration, the brace bolts onto the frame rails and cradle such that there is zero tension when the car is parked and at rest. That means that the brace will only be applying any tension to the cradle when you are accelerating.

The silver spacer applies 0.04” preload to the cradle and is recommended for track use only. This actively applies tension and pulls down on the cradle even while the car is at rest.

Removing all of the spacers applies the maximum amount of preload to the cradle and is recommended for track use only.

Clearances:
* This product should provide adequate clearance for the exhaust.  Most cars need zero modification of the exhaust other than loosening the clamps, making some minor adjustments and then re-tightening. This isn’t a guarantee because there are so many different exhaust systems, and custom exhausts etc and they’re all a little different.
